The DFN Charitable Foundation purchased Undershaw Hotel in Hindhead in September 2014 to create a world class special needs school. Undershaw is the former residence of the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and was originally commissioned to cater to the medical needs of his wife who had TB. The house was built to fully benefit from the south-facing aspect of the site.
The restoration of Undershaw began in 2014 and took 2 years to complete. It was opened in September 2016 as the home of Stepping Stones School. The school provides a spacious, bright and positive environment for the students to continue onto the next stages of their education and development.

Undershaw is now open during the week-ends and out of term time as a new Surrey location for events. If you are a Sherlock enthusiast or you are looking for a venue with a unique British heritage, Undershaw is the place for you!
